Who We Are
Meet Deborah Mungai- Miss Africa Great Britain 2024- 2025
In October 2024, I was crowned Miss Africa Great Britain, proudly becoming the first Kenyan to hold the title. I was also awarded Miss Congeniality and Miss Proactive, honours that reflect the values I hold dear kindness, consistency, and purpose in action. Pageantry, for me, isn’t about perfection or performance; it’s about service, courage, and community. Saying yes to the crown meant saying yes to a calling, one that empowered me to use my voice beyond the stage and lead with intention.
Through my reign, I’ve worked to bridge the gap between the UK and Africa, championing youth empowerment, especially for the often-forgotten boy child. My project, Pia Sisi Tuko, was born from this passion, providing mentorship, mental health support, and digital education to boys in Kenya and beyond. From supporting local charities in the UK to launching foundational programs in Africa, my mission is simple: to leave a legacy of impact, and to show that true beauty lies in purpose

My Inspiration: My mother
My journey would not exist without the unwavering love of my mother, Lydia Mungai. She is the blueprint of strength, sacrifice, and vision, a woman who taught me that no dream is too bold if it’s rooted in purpose. From Nairobi to Northampton, her prayers, wisdom, and quiet guidance have been the compass for every step I take. She has stood beside me in every competition, every project, and every challenge, often putting my needs before her own to see me succeed.
Her influence doesn’t stop with me. My mum played a pivotal role in mentoring Sam Omoll, the founder of Mngaro Mtaani, the charity I am now honoured to support. Through her guidance and encouragement, she helped him shift his lifestyle, find his purpose, and turn his experiences into a mission that uplifts others. That same spirit of transformation and belief in human potential is what drives me to use my crown for meaningful impact. Behind every empowered daughter is a mother who believed first.
About Miss Africa Great Britain
Miss Africa GB is more than a pageant, it’s a platform for purpose. It empowers young African women in the UK to become change-makers in their communities and beyond. Through this platform, I’ve been able to:
- Launch my foundation
- Partner with grassroots organisations in Kenya and the UK
- Use storytelling to redefine what a beauty queen looks like
